CPA nudged 2nd Place Paola by only three strokes. Third Place Ottawa shot 343. The table below displays the results for all participating teams.

The Patriots' 4th team score was delivered by Phoebe Finley, who shot a 93 but fell outside the top ten.

On the following day Christ Prep hosted its own invitational at the 6,000 yard Ironhorse Golf Club in Leawood, Kansas. The Patriots delivered an even more impressive score Tuesday, winning the tournament by shooting a season-low 325 amid rainy, cold, and blustery conditions. Kansas City Christian placed second in the event, firing a team total 363.

After resting on Wednesday, the Patriots competed in the Kansas Christian Athletic Assoc. (KCAA) State Championships Thursday at Heritage Park Golf Course in Olathe. Christ Prep shot a 333 team score on the 6,300 Heritage Park layout, and in doing so claimed its 7th consecutive KCAA State Championship.

Newcomers Gimmoty and Moneymaker turned in career low or near-career low rounds and show great promise for next year.

The Patriots conclude their season next week in Springfield, Mo. as they compete in the National Christian Homeschool Championships at Rivercut Golf Course.

Patriots Grab a Pair of Duals

The Christ Prep Patriots competed in a couple of dual golf meets this week and came away with wins on two drastically different golf courses.

Tuesday CPA traveled to Blackberry Trails Golf Course in Archie where the team beat the host Whirlwinds 155-229. Drexel also competed int he contest but only had three players.

Medalist honors at Blackberry Trails went to Nolan Becerra with a one-over 36. Sawyer Massing was close behind with a 38 while Garrett Routh carded a 39. Phoebe Finley followed with a 42 and Jacob Bishoff contributed a 43. Michael Gimotty, Jacob Uebelein and Trenton Davis delivered solid performances as well--the latter two in their first Christ Prep golf match.

Yesterday the Patriots traveled to the Village of Loch Lloyd to compete against the Barstow Knights. CPA managed to slip by Barstow by one stroke, claiming victory in the contest 172-173. Christ Prep's Nolan Becerra and Garrett Routh shared medalist honors with Barstow's Tripp Walsworth as all three shot a five-over 40 on the 3,000 "Sechrest Nine" at Loch Lloyd. Sawyer Massing just missed sharing the honor with the three others as he fired a six-over 41.

The Patriots are back in action Monday at their first Invitational of the year, the Grain Valley Invitational which will be held at the Adam's Pointe G.C. in Blue Springs, Mo.

Patriots, Bishoff, Grab Opener at Lionsgate

Jacob Bishoff
The Christ Prep Patriot golf team braved a bitter March wind chill en route to claiming an opening match victory yesterday at the Nicklaus Golf Club at Lionsgate.

Yesterday's contest, a dual meet hosted by Heritage Christian Academy of Olathe, provided a formidable test for both teams. The Jack Nicklaus-designed links played at 3,200+ yards over the club's front nine. Blustery conditions, plentiful bunkers, and a formidable rough complicated both teams' traverse of the award-winning layout.

The Patriots' top four golfers  combined for a team score of 176 to Heritage's 208. Senior Jacob Bishoff claimed medalist honors, carding a six-over-par 42 for the day. He barely edged fellow senior teammate Garrett Routh for the honor. Routh shot a seven-over 43 and was followed by junior Sawyer Massing (45) and senior Nolan Becerra (46). Junior Phoebe Finley had to WD due to a wrist injury incurred during a bunker shot. Freshman Michael Gimotty, in his debut for the Patriots, shot a very respectable 65.

Heritage Christian, in its first year of competitive golf, was led by frosh Parker Allen, who turned in a 47 for the day. Both Heritage and CPA will meet again at the Patriots' invitational to be held April 29 at Ironhorse G.C. in Leawood.

Christ Prep returns to action next week as the team travels to Archie to compete against the Whirlwinds and Drexel High at Blackberry Trails in Archie. That event is followed by the Patriots' final nine hole contest of the year--a dual against Barstow at Loch Lloyd C.C. in Belton, Mo.
