The Christ Prep Patriots had a busy but productive week as April gave way to May, claiming three first place Championships during what has been called the team's "crunch week.".

The week started as CPA traveled to Metcalf Ridge Golf Course in Louisburg, Kansas, site of the 2014 Louisburg Invitational.  The Patriots claimed the Louisburg title, shooting a combined 336 on the 6,100 yard Metcalf Ridge layout. CPA nudged 2nd Place Paola by only three strokes. Third Place Ottawa shot 343. The table below displays the results for all participating teams.
Place Team Score
1 Christ Prep 336
2 Paola 339
3 Ottawa 343
4 Gardner 363
5 Louisburg 372
6 DeSoto 373
7 Spring Hil 420

The Patriots took home three top ten medals at the event. Garrett Routh shot a seven-over 78, which claimed him  first place overall. Nolan Becerra tied for 2nd with an 80 while Sawyer Massing brought home an 8th Place medal with an 85. The Patriots' 4th team score was delivered by Phoebe Finley, who shot a 93 but fell outside the top ten.

On the following day Christ Prep hosted its own invitational at the 6,000 yard Ironhorse Golf Club in Leawood, Kansas. The Patriots delivered an even more impressive score Tuesday, winning the tournament by shooting a season-low 325 amid rainy, cold, and blustery conditions. Kansas City Christian placed second in the event, firing a team total 363.

Individually the Patriots delivered several solid performances. Nolan Becerra shot a six-over 78 to claim second place. Cornerstone's Josiah Packard was overall champion with a 76. Junior Sawyer Massing delivered a 79 which gave him 4th Place. Garrett Routh shot 83 and Jacob Bishoff shot 85 which awarded them 6th and 7th Places, respectively.

After resting on Wednesday, the Patriots competed in the Kansas Christian Athletic Assoc. (KCAA) State Championships Thursday at Heritage Park Golf Course in Olathe. Christ Prep shot a 333 team score on the 6,300 Heritage Park layout, and in doing so claimed its 7th consecutive KCAA State Championship.

Again the Patriots delivered individually. Garrett Routh was medalist by shooting a 4-over 75, which won the championship by five strokes. Nolan Becerra was third with an 82, while Sawyer Massing was 4th with an 85. Jacob Bishoff's 91 claimed him 6th Place.

Following the three tournament victories the Patriots brought a small crew to the Cair Paravel Inv. yesterday at Lake Shawnee G.C. in Topeka, Kansas. The Patriots four players included Garrett Routh (88), Phoebe Finley (99), Michael Gimotty (104) and Daniel Moneymaker (105). The team's combined score of 396 claimed second place. Cornerstone of Topeka won decisively with a 340. Routh's 88 was the only medal in the top ten. Newcomers Gimmoty and Moneymaker turned in career low or near-career low rounds and show great promise for next year.

The Patriots conclude their season next week in Springfield, Mo. as they compete in the National Christian Homeschool Championships at Rivercut Golf Course.
