Christ Prep Wins Hayden Invitational

The Christ Prep Patriots had one stroke to spare yesterday en route to yet another win at a high school golf tournament, this time against a strong Kansas 4A field.

The Patriots combined for a 315 at the Hayden Invitational, held at the par 70 Cypress Ridge Golf Club in Topeka.

CPA's 315 edged second place St. James Academy (316) by just one stroke. Piper was third at 319.  Complete team scores are presented at the end of the blog post.

Christ Prep was well represented in the individual awards. Joey Johnson continued his hot streak by shooting a field-leading 3-over-par 73. Joey's mark was 3 strokes better than the 76 carded by Charlie Rinehart of Piper.  Patriot senior Logan Routh once again shot a solid round. Logan's  77 placed him in a 3-way tie for third place, although a scorecard playoff resulted in him receiving the 5th Place medal. Other Patriot scores included Nolan Becerra's 80, Timothy Finley's 85, and Garrett Routh's 87.

The Patriots resume action at the Veritas Invitational Wednesday in Lawrence, Kan.
