Patriots Second Among 13 Teams at Grain Valley

The Christ Prep Patriot golf team endured bitterly cold and windy conditions today to claim second place in the 13-team Grain Valley Invitational. CPA golfers combined for a total of 339 strokes in the match, which was contested on the par 72 Adam's Pointe Golf Club in Blue Springs, Mo.

The Patriots, though solid, were a distant second from the first place Warrensburg Tigers. Warrensburg had two golfers in the 70's which assisted them to a 323 total. Third, fourth, and fifth places were awarded to Boonville, Marshall, and Harrisonville, respectively. Other teams competing in the Invitational included O'Hara, Knob Noster, Oak Grove, Platte County, Grain Valley, Lexington, Odessa, and Pleasant Hill.

Several Patriots claimed individual medals in the Invitational. CPA's Adam Johnson shot 80 which was good enough for third place. Joey Johnson shot 83 which tied him for sixth. Logan Routh's 86 was good for an 8th place tie.

The Grain Valley Invitational also held a JV tournament which was contested by 9 teams. CPA placed sixth in the JV category as well. The JV squad combined for a total of 382 strokes. Individually, Jacob Bronars and Darren Wallace tied for sixth place.

The Patriots take two squads to Royal Meadows Golf Club tomorrow where they will compete in the Blue Ridge Christian School Invitational.
